Meet a few of our Basketball Trainers

Shay Robinson brings several years of basketball skill and development to The EDGE. Shay is currently the Assistant Head Coach of Varsity basketball at Viera High School while also managing player skill, conditioning and development training. With over 8 years of active duty experience in the United States Air Force, Shay is highly dedicated, knowledgeable, and seasoned in motivational and instructional environments.

Shay possesses an Associates degree in Education and will complete his Bachelors of Science, majoring in Sports and Fitness with a minor in Coaching Theory in August of 2007. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE), National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and the Black Coaches Association (BCA).

Shay holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sports and Fitness with specialization in Coaching from University of Central Florida.


Darnell Haney is a Miami, Florida native who played and helped orchestrate a district and regional championship. After earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in 2004 from Florida A&M his love for playing and teaching basketball is evident in having trained several elite youth athletes in Central Florida the last several years.

Darnell has been a qualified coach at some of Reebok’s and 5-Stars National camps. He currently holds the position of Assistant Coach at Jones High School, where he assist in the basketball skill development of youth athletes. Darnell has organized and developed two AAU boys teams, basketball camps, and an elite basketball training program, all while being a member of various coaching associations such as the Black Coaches Association (BCA), the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) and the Amateur Athletic Association (AAU).
